Ahmad Alrifai is a researcher at FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure, where he works on internal and external projects within the field of text and data mining. His work within interdisciplinary teams helped to gain more than five years of data engineering experience, especially with the optimum usage of big data frameworks and distributed databases for processing large data sets.
His main research interests include the exploitation of distributed and parallel technologies to enhance the performance and efficiency of the existing Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning methods.
He holds a Master degree in Information Technology from Kiel University of Applied Science. Before working at FIZ Karlsruhe, he did an internship and the Master Thesis at ABB Corporate Research Center in Ladenburg, where he focused on deploying some Big Data technologies for the analysis of industrial alarm data.
He started his professional career as a teaching assistant at Damascus University, where he was involved in supporting students with various projects in different IT-domains.
